Vikings Move on to Second Round after 41-13 Rout of Luella
Brian Fazio, Valdosta Daily Times
Just four minutes and nine seconds into the 2008 Class AAAAA playoffs, the Lowndes Vikings had already established their dominance.

At that young point of Friday’s game against Luella, the Vikings led 14-0, and had not allowed a yard in just two plays.

From there, Lowndes didn’t let off of the Lions, and won its first round contest 41-13.

Lowndes head coach Randy McPherson said his team was looking to come out strong in the first round, and it was able to do just that.

“The intensity and level of play is just what we were looking for,” McPherson said. “I wanted to come out and get some things done. The offense executed very well, and the defense did a great job, too.”

The Vikings’ offensive line established itself early, allowing the running game to roll over the Lions.

On Lowndes’ second play of the game, Gerald Demps broke free for a 65-yard run, setting up the first touchdown. Greg Reid converted the score, scoring from three yards out, before Demps ran in for the two-point conversion, giving the Vikings an 8-0 lead.
