Vikings Finish Season 12-1, Fall to Grayson 17-7
Adam MacDonald, Valdosta Daily Times
The Grayson Rams scored 17 unanswered points and ended the Lowndes Vikings’ season with a shocking 17-7 win Friday at Britt-Moody Field.

Leading 10-7 early in the fourth quarter, the Rams used an epic 85-yard touchdown drive to close out the Vikings’ hope of winning back-to-back state championships.

The clinching drive started on the Grayson 20-yard line. The Rams appeared to be satisfied with just trying to run the clock out, running the first two plays for minus-5 yards. Facing a third-and-15, the Rams handed the ball off to running back Ean Pemberton, who broke through a tackle and ran for 28 yards and the first down. Grayson tacked on three more first downs on the drive, and on fourth-and-1 with 1:23 to go, Pemberton raced to the outside and ran in for a touchdown making it 17-7 Grayson with 1:13 left in the game.

The drive was a microcosm of the entire game. Grayson was able to move the ball on offense when it needed to, and the Vikings failed to come up with the big play they have always seemed to get in the past.
