Lowndes vs. Meadowcreek - Game Report
The Lowndes Vikings gave their alumni something to be proud of at the 2005 Homecoming Game. The Vikings routed Meadowcreek 57-6, playing extremely well on the ground all night long. The Lowndes defense did its part, keeping the Mustangs corralled on their side of the field most of the night. Meadowcreek tried a few trick plays against the Vikings, but Lowndes didn’t have a problem responding.

Lowndes started off with a steady drive downfield, capped off by Devarus Leonard’s 7-yard touchdown run. The PAT was no good, making the score 6-0. Meadowcreek then received the ball, but got nowhere. The Mustangs attempted a fake punt on fourth-and-12, but the pass fell incomplete, giving the Vikings possession. Jermel Demps dashed into the endzone, but the TD was called back for an illegal block. Darriett Perry took the ball in twice more, but both touchdowns were called back. Finally, Stanley Dickson scored a touchdown from 25 yards out, and it was allowed to stand. Doug Belk’s pass to Matt Harper for the 2-point conversion fell incomplete.

On the Vikings’ first drive in the second quarter, they drove deep downfield but fumbled on the Meadowcreek 1. The Viking defense held the Mustangs in their territory, forcing them to punt. After a Harper punt return, Dickson charged into the endzone from 17 yards out to make the score 19-0 after a Schimdt PAT.

Following another defensive stand, Perry streaked down field for a 59-yard touchdown. After a 5-yard penalty on the kickoff, Schmidt’s kick against the wind didn’t quite make it into the endzone. The Mustangs returned the kick, breaking through then Viking defense. Schimdt was the last line of defense, and he wrapped up the kick-returner, bringing the crowd to their feet. Once Lowndes got the ball back, Perry ran for his second TD of the night.

Stevie Harden broke through the hold of a Meadowcreek defender late in the first half to block a Mustang punt. To finish off the half, Schimdt booted a 43-yard field goal to put 36 Viking points on the scoreboard.

Meadowcreek’s quarterback, CJ Hancock was dealt a breath-taking blow when multiple Lowndes defenders stopped his quarterback option. Hancock’s helmet flew skyward, and the game was stopped for several minutes as he was tended to, before he walked off the field. Back on offense, the Vikings continued to move at will on the Mustangs. Randy J. Williams threw a 15-yard pass to Dickson, who got the ball to the one yard line. Robert Frazier took the ball in the final yard, setting the score at 43-0. Late in the third, Perry sped 15 yards to the 2-yard line, setting up Adrian Hargett’s touchdown to start the fourth. Marc Herring made the point-after.

Meadowcreek finally scored in the fourth quarter, avoiding the shut-out with a 27-yard touchdown pass. Their PAT was missed, putting the Mustangs on the board 50-6. To close the night, freshman Jerrol Demps ran for 36-yards and then a 4-yard touchdown to set the final score at 57-6
