Lowndes vs. Ware - Game Report
Turnovers doomed the Vikings Friday night, as Ware County defeated Lowndes 28-7. Ware capitalized on several Viking turnovers in the second half to score three touchdowns in three minutes. The Vikings were unable to manage a rushing touchdown against the Gators, though they did make some yards through the air on their final drive.

The Vikings gave-and-took in the 1 st quarter, as neither team could do much damage. Most of the second quarter was a defensive struggle, but with 20 seconds on the clock the Gators scored off of a fake field goal on third down. The Vikings went into the locker room with a 7-0 deficit.

After Ware missed a field goal, Lowndes struck back in the third. With 4:07 on the clock and operating at their own 40, Doug Belk fired the ball to Darriett Perry, who outran the Gator defenders into the endzone. Kurtis Schimdt tied up the game with his PAT.

The Gators opened their fourth-quarter scoring with a 19-yard touchdown dash. On the next Viking drive Ware stripped Lynn Williams on the Lowndes 26. Ware was forced backwards, but then a Gator back drove straight up the gut for a 31-yard TD, making the score 21-7. The Vikings attempted a trick play, with Belk flipping the ball to Jerrol Demps, whose pass fell short and was picked off by Ware and returned to the Lowndes 16-yard line. The Gator quarterback dropped back to the 20 and found an open man in the endzone to go up 28-7.

After Belk took a shot on his arm and was injured, Randy J. Williams entered the game as quarterback. Williams threw deep to Lynn Williams, but the pass was broken up by a defender. The Vikings worked their way down field with a series of passes, and Randy J.Williams spotted Will Hardesty at the corner of the endzone on 4 th down. The pass was called out of bounds, and the ball was turned over to Ware. The Gators then took a knee to end the game with a 28-7 win.

Lowndes has an off week to recover, and then will open their region season at Colquitt County.
