Lowndes vs. Houston Game Report The good news for the Lowndes football team is it has two weeks to rebound from its first Region 1, AAAAA loss of the season. Other than that, Vikings’ coach Randy McPherson summed up their 31-14 loss pretty succinctly. “We just got whipped good,” McPherson said. The Vikings’ trademark — their defense — had trouble containing the Bears’ running game, as Houston put together 313 yards on 44 carries. The rushing onslaught started on the Bears’ first drive as they put together seven plays for 80 yards, resulting in a touchdown. Houston running back Eric O’Neal punched in a two-yard touchdown run on the drive that was highlighted by a 46-yard reverse handoff to Martez King. King made the move from the Bears’ quarterback to wing back in the week before the matchup against the Vikings. King continued to give the Vikings fits all nig ht as he compiled 126 yards on eight carries. When King wasn’t moving past scores of maroon jerseys, his backfield mate, O’Neal, was. O’Neal led all rushers with 136 yards on 12 carries. |
