Lowndes vs. Luella - Vikings Tame Lions
Lowndes dominated the Luella Lions, with the defense allowing only 63 yards in the first half. The Viking offense racked up 389 total yards in the game. The Vikings lost four fumbles and threw one interception, but only one Lion score came off of turnovers. With the Vikings freely substituting in the fourth quarter, Luella dashed off two quick scores, making the final score 55-20 .

The Vikings started off with a 47-yard pass from Doug Belk to Brian Sermons. Octaviues Everett capped the series with a 8-yard touchdown run with 9:15 on the 1st quarter clock. When Luella got the ball, Jermel Demps picked off a pass and sprinted 25 yards to the 7-yd line. Lee Green then took it all the way in, with a 7-yard touchdown run. For the last score of the quarter, Devarius Leonard swept around the left for another 6 points. Kurtis Schimdt nailed all of the 1st quarter PAT's. The defense caged the Lions, not allowing a single score.

Lowndes continued their attack in the second quarter, scoring a touchdown with a 25-yard pass from Belk to Tavarus Carter. Schmidt got the PAT with 2:51 to go. Lowndes threatened in the closing seconds of the half as Matt Harper pulled in a 37-yard pass by Belk. LHS drove close to the endzone, but Luella intercepted Belk's pass and ran 99 yards to allow Luella to get their first score of the night.

On the Vikings first possession in the 3rd quarter, they drove steadily to the Luella 2-yard line, and then Octaviues Everett ran into the endzone standing up for the TD. For the final score of the third quarter, Darriet Perry sprinted around the corner for 13 yards. The defense held Luella in the 3rd quarter, so with a 35-point lead, the running clock mercy rule was in effect in the 4th.

Luella matched Lowndes score for score in the fourth against the LHS 2nd and 3rd string. For the first score of the 4th, Stanley Dixon ran in for an 18-yard touchdown, but the PAT was missed. Luella then made an 80 yard TD pass, while they also missed the point after. Luella than kicked off, and Darriet Perry began his return. He muffed the catch, but then picked it up and ran 76 yards to the one-yard line. Ben Herron then took it in the extra yard for the score, and Marc Herring kicked the PAT. For the last score of the night, the Lions threw a 32-yd pass for a touchdown.

The defensive starters still have not allowed any points this season, and the offense has already scored 107 points in the first two games. The Vikings put many players on the field, all gaining valuable playing time. Lowndes hosts Kendrick next week on Sep. 3, with kickoff at 8:00.
